It’s the beginning of fall—another great time to either recommit to fitness goals or set new ones.

As a fitness expert and behavioral coach with years of experience in the health and fitness industry, I’ve coached a diverse range of fitness levels from beginners to athletes, and I’ve led fitness events with brands like Adidas. When it comes to your fitness goals—whether it’s to lose weight, run a 5K, or just improve your fitness—one plan doesn’t fit all! I’m all about real science, real solutions, and measurability.

What we can’t measure, we can’t improve. That’s why over the summer I’ve been working on highly effective methods to deliver real science and real solutions for you!

Are you ready for this? I am so excited to finally release this partnership with KORR Medical Technologies to take the guesswork out of the fitness equation. KORR has applied years of respiratory research to take on the challenge of health and fitness with their revolutionary CardioCoachVO₂Maxtest! This is one of the most accurate ways to measure cardiovascular fitness, and it’s the gold standard of testing.

What is VOMax?

VO₂Max is the maximal amount of oxygen that your body can consume at its highest intensity.

What does that mean for you?

The higher your VO₂Max, the fitter you are and the more calories you burn!

Let’s use HIIT (one of my favorite workouts!) for example. HIIT is a cardio workout that involves high-intensity intervals and burns the most calories in the least amount of time. In this type of workout, you spend most of your time training in the higher end of your cardio zone at 85–95% of your max HR for 20–30 seconds, followed by active recovery intervals. This workout demands a high amount of oxygen as you’re working at the higher end of your target heart rate. That’s why one person who has a higher VO₂Maxcan get through this high-intensity workout, while someone who is less fit with a lower VO₂Max may find it a grueling workout.

Jumping into a workout like this is like a shot in the dark if you don’t know your actual target heart rate and what HR zone to train in based on your fitness level. Whether your goals are to crush that HIIT workout and burn more calories, run your longest distance, or just get fit, the standard formula (220 minus your age x .85% of your max heart rate) doesn’t take into consideration your fitness level based on your maximum oxygen. You can begin to see how VO₂Maxplays a major role in how fit and strong our cardiovascular health can be!

The Solution

The CardioCoach is the ultimate metabolic test that measures your VO₂Maxand resting metabolic rate. As intensity increases during the exercise test, your body will respond differently based on the physiological demands. CardioCoach measures your metabolic status and performance at each of the four exercise levels to determine how many calories your body is burning at each intensity level. It will use your heart rate as a landmark to determine what workout zone is right for you. In other words, it will indicate what zone is right for you based on your goals—whether you want to burn fat, improve endurance, boost metabolism, or take your fitness performance to the next level. You can begin to see how CardioCoach VO₂Maxtesting customizes a unique plan for you.
