Lace up your Women’s Ultra Boost X Parley Shoes and join adidas and Parley in a run to save our seas.

Running by the beautiful ocean has always been my perfect form of Zen. In fact, the first thing I do when I arrive at a beach destination is to run, not lounge. Running by the water is where I think, breathe in the salt air, and appreciate the beauty of life around me. Unfortunately, something so beautiful, is also suffering at its core.

Recent studies indicate that at least 40 million pounds of plastic has accumulated and is floating in the North Pacific Ocean. The ocean currents have formed five gigantic, slow-moving whirlpools, nicknamed Vortexes, where the plastic collects. The majority of the plastic debris remains in the Vortexes, however a significant percentage of it washes onto our coastlines each day. This results in a massive amount of plastic trash that ends up along our beaches.

How Parley Can Help

Parley for the Oceans https://www.parley.tv/#fortheoceans  addresses the major threats towards our oceans, and aims to save as many animals as possible. The global Parley network of clean-up organizations removes plastic from shorelines and ghost nets from the high seas. In remote areas, Parley establishes systems to intercept plastic waste before it ends up in landfills, gets burned, buried or tossed into rivers or oceans.

Parley doesn’t see recycling as the ultimate solution for plastic pollution. Instead, it aims to keep plastic that has already been produced in use, reducing the need for new, virgin plastic. Together with its corporate partners, Parley develops programs that incentivize consumers to return their end-of-life products and keep plastic in a closed loop.

Parley Pairs up with Adidas

Adidas has joined forces with Parley to transform marine plastic pollution into high-performance sportswear, spinning the problem into a solution. The new Women’s Ultra Boost X Parley Shoes are made with ocean plastic – turning a threat into a thread.

When I learned about the adidas Parley shoe, and what it represents, it really resonated with me. Each pair of shoes is made with yarn featuring reclaimed and recycled ocean plastic, meaning that 9 plastic bottles are taken out of the ocean with each pair of optimal performance runners. Every time I lace up with my new Parley’s it reminds me that we can make a difference.
